Boot order in the laptop BIOS controls from which device operating system will load. It is also control to Modify or change the boot order to different devices, such as USB drive, CD or DVD drive, hard drive or SSD, etc.. Change the boot order on a laptop involves accessing the BIOS/UEFI settings, which may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer of the laptop (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.). Here’s a general guide to help you through the process:
Let’s  do the following steps to change the priority in Boot order:
Restart the laptop.
If the laptop is on, save your work and then restart it.
Access into BIOS or UEFI Settings:
Access into BIOS, If you don’t know how to do this, make sure to read our article on How to access into BIOS.
Move to Boot Options:
While into the BIOS or UEFI settings, move to the “Boot” or “Boot Order” option. The location of the options depends on your laptop’s manufacturer and BIOS/UEFI version.
Boot Order List:
In the Boot or Boot Order section, you’ll see all devices that connected with your laptop which can boot from. Devices included in the list are internal hard drive or SSD, external USB drives, CD/DVD drives, network boot, etc.
Check The Boot Device Priority:
Make sure to set the device that installed your operating system as the first boot option (usually your hard drive or SSD). If the primary boot option isn’t where your operating system is loaded, you’ll need to adjust the boot order.
How to Change the Boot Order on a laptop (in case you need):
To change the boot priority, select the device you want to make the first priority of and use the appropriate key or (+/-) to move it up or down in the list. Follow the on-screen instructions on the laptop’s right side to change the boot order.
Save changes and Exit:
Once you’ve selected the boot order as required, save the changes and exit the BIOS or UEFI settings, by selecting the option “Save and Exit.“.
Restart to change the boot order on a laptop .
After successfully save and Exit, the laptop will restart. The laptop will now boot from the device you have selected as the first boot option.
Important Note:
Incorrect changes to the BIOS settings can cause your laptop to not boot properly. If you’re not sure about making changes, consult your nearest laptop’s repair shop.
